Manual silkscreen printing
Screen printing is a known form of art that has attracted buyers from all over the world. It is just one of the numerous instances that one could state to the fact that buyers do not really mind the medium in which a fine piece of art is done. Silkscreen is not only known for its artistic as well as historic value. There are various methods of screen printing. One such method is to do it manually. It is no doubt tiring, but there is a certain experience and a typical feeling that one can derive only by manually printing a screen. Though a machine may produce bulk prints, manual printing produces a certain satisfaction. Screen printing is a method for people who would like to put the logo of their company or organization on objects such as their umbrella, car ore any other place that they feel like. This process is not very complicated nor does it takes a lot of time. The supplies that are required for printing such screens are not some proprietary tools; they are available even at some local store. They are a category of stencil. They are made of fabric that is stretched over a frame. It is then treated with special chemicals. They are used to create multiple copies of anything. The materials that are required for making a manual silkscreen printing are a screen, a kit that contains activator and photo emulsion, a squeegee, a duct tape (duck tape), a printing ink and of course the material that needs to be printed. Premade screens are also available at times. They are some useful things to know regarding manual silkscreen printing. It is recommended to use textile ink for shirts as these inks are thicker and flow on a fabric well. Similarly, using a standard printing ink is essential for posters. Screen frames can be made easily using frames of wood or any thick string. Manual silkscreen printing should be done only after ensuring that the screen has undergone numerous tests such as leaks, etc. Use a heavy test paper and ensure that it protects the surface. Similarly, the ink should be identical to the consistency of a peanut butter. Repeating the printing front and back many times is essential to check the print on the product. After many passes, if you feel satisfied, you can set for the final screening. Regardless, of the fact that the manual silkscreen printing is on a T-shirt or a poster, repeating the procedure is essential, and this should be done until perfection is accomplished.

Original silkscreen
Also know as serigraphy or silk screening, original silkscreen printing is a classic printing technique that has been around since the early 1900s. In original silkscreen printing, a fine, porous fabric known as mesh, made out of silk, placed over an aluminum or wooden frame and stretched to cover the full frame forming a screen. Then some kind of non permeable material is placed over this screen, creating a negative picture of the image to be printed. In the final steps of original silkscreen printing, this marked up screen is placed over some kind of substrate, which is usually paper or fabric, and then a reservoir of ink is squeegeed over the screen. This effectively prints the image on the the substrate. This original silkscreen printing technique is used for numerous different items, including decals, clothing, and even watch and clock faces. Original silkscreen printing is also used to put logos and images on balloons, skis and snowboards, and even product labels. Some electronic companies have also modified the original silkscreen printing technique so that it can be used for circuit boards. This is very unique and has made creating circuit boards much more efficient. Though this original silkscreen printing technique has been modified to be more modern, original silkscreen printing is still considered a form of art. Many modern printers do not use original silkscreens, but instead use more modern synthetic materials as the screen. Nevertheless, original silkscreen printing is still the favored technique by many traditional printers. These techniques are still used to create beautiful traditional fabric garments and other traditional items. If you are interested in learning original silkscreen printing techniques, you may be able to find a printer willing to take you on as an apprentice.
