Silkscreen printing for t shirts
Silk originated in Asia. Silkscreen printing originated from Japanese methods of stenciling. Silkscreen printing is a method of transferring art from one medium to another. Silkscreen printing requires a piece of silk that absorbs ink. The silkscreen process of the present age is based on the ideas that were developed by John Pilsworth of San Francisco, in the year 1914. Silkscreen or serigraphy as it is known is a form of art that is famous for its artistic value. It can be done on any surface. Even T shirts can act as suitable medium. Screen Printing (Silk screen) creates a single colored and sharp edged image with the help of a porous fabric and stencil. This technique creates a screen print. Silkscreen refers to writing upon a printed circuit board. This method can be used for engraving copper wiring onto a circuit board. During the 1960s, the “Pop Art Movement” brought about the immense popularity of this art. This method is presently used for fine arts and other small scale commercial printing. The First World War brought about a lot of demand for silkscreen printing as banners and flags were constantly needed. The need of graphic stencils also increased considerably. There are numerous ways of creating patterns for screen printing and the most convenient ways of creating silkscreen patterns can be done by hand. Acquiring the required shape is a simple process as you can cut a piece of plastic film or paper and tie it to the screen or an illustration can also be created on the screen. Another artistic method involves using drawing paint and painting pictures. Once the pictures get dried, it can be coated with screen filler and can be let to dry. Once it dries water is sprayed on it such that all the material gets washed away leaving behind stencil spray. Such method sanctions the artists to pursue the portrayal technique and to create multiples. Silkscreen printing is commonly employed for garments, T- Shirts as well as for other fabrics. This type of printing is widely used on ceramic objects, wood, metal, paper, synthetic items and glass. Such techniques are essential and represent bold as well as graphic designs. However, recently screen printing is considered to be flexible than any other conventional techniques of printing. As this type of printing is found to be appreciated and is widely accepted by the mass, various industries are constantly on the increase in employing silk screen printing. Silkscreen printing for T-shirts is a craze among the college goers as the printing shines as well.

Small silkscreen
Silkscreen printing is a printing technique that is also known as silk screening or serigraphy. In silk screening, a screen made out of a porous mesh material that is stretched and attached to a rectangular frame of wood or metal is used. A reverse, or negative, of the image to be printed is blocked off on the screen using a non porous material. Finally, this blocked off screen is held over a substrate, which can be anything from paper, to fabric, to wood, to ceramics, to even tile, and silkscreen ink or paint is squeegeed over the screen. This forces the ink or paint through the non blocked portions of the screen, which prints the proper image on the substrate. Though when one thinks of silkscreen printing, one probably thinks of the large silkscreens required to print the beautiful images on clothing and blankets that professional silkscreen printers sell, there is also the small silkscreen. The small silkscreen is the favored tool of the at home silkscreen printer. This small silkscreen can be very versatile and be used to add nice little accents to furniture, clothing, and even upholstery You can find a small silkscreen at mot local craft stores. These craft stores may even sell a small silkscreen in a silkscreen set, that will include the non porous material you ca use to block of the image on the small silkscreen. If can afford it, splurge on the more expensive small silkscreen set that will include computer software that will help you to reverse your image, print the negative on the non porous material, and cut it out to apply it to your small silkscreen. You can use your small silkscreen again and again. You can use your small silkscreen to accent your plain dining room chairs with a cute little floral design. You can also use your small silkscreen to accent your older clothing. Many children enjoy having fun designs printed onto their older pants and overalls. If you are interested in using a silkscreen to accent your home, consider taking a silkscreen printing class. Many craft stores offer such courses. You may also be able to find some silkscreen printing course online, with online tutorials and videos that will help you to learn all the tricks and tips to make your silkscreen printing an enjoyable and effective experience. If you choose not to take a course on silkscreen printing processes, make sure you at least read all about the process before attempting it on a piece of furniture. Many experienced silkscreen printers suggest practicing on plywood until you have mastered the techniques.
