Silkscreen printing is one of the many ways to create many prints. It is actually a piece of art. The name silk printing might be demoralizing to many people but it is easy to learn. It is also a lot of fun. A large surface is required for creating silk screen art. The materials that are required this art are easy to find. Even the local supply store can provide a person with most of the supplies that he might need. Even the internet is an interesting place to look for such things. There are so many online stores and even the company websites can provide a person with what he needs. The supplies that are required for silk screen printing are silk fabric, pencil, Vellum, Squeegee, Design, Fabric plant, Painter’s tape, Pre Made Silk Screen, Newspaper and Exacto Knife. One has to draw the required design on the vellum. Placing the vellum on the design and tracing with a pencil can do the job. By placing the vellum in a window during daylight or on an artist table, one can see through the vellum. This causes a first print of the design that has to be later printed using silk screen printing. If the printing is in different colors, more than one screen will be required. That is, every single color requires a different screen. These designs must later be cut using a craft knife that is sharp. These steps are simple however, they do require some time to be carried out in a proper manner. The first vellum tape is to be attached behind the silk screen with the help of painter’s tape. Pre made silk screens are available in most supply stores. Building a silk screen is also a good idea as it does require some practice and a person gets lots of it by making his own silk screen. Paper towels are required. The silk fabric is to be placed on these paper towels and the silk screen is placed on the fabric. Fabric paint is to be poured on the silk screen. The squeegee is to be placed in the paint. One has to pull it along the screen towards the user. Holding the squeegee at an angle of 45 degrees provides the best results. Once the bottom of the screen is reached, the angle of the squeegee is to be reversed. It is to be pushed to the top of the screen in one smooth movement. It is allowed to dry. Other layers of paint are to be applied after the first layer dries.
